A person was killed when a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside Donald Trump’s hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day, with the incident being treated as a possible act of terror.

Surveillance footage from outside the hotel lobby showed a silver vehicle destroyed by a blast before being engulfed in flames.

Police did not immediately say what caused the explosion but ABC News, citing an official briefed on the incident, said the truck had “fireworks-style mortars” onboard. The incident is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack, the outlet reported.

The driver, who had pulled the Cybertruck into the hotel’s valet area, was killed while seven others sustained minor injuries, the Las Vegas metropolitan police department said.

The incident occurred at about 8.40am local time, hours after a terrorist attack in New Orleans killed at least ten people.
